March 28 DigiGirlz DayTomorrow I'll be in NYC for the Microsoft DigiGirlz Day New York. This year the DigiGirlz Days are happening all over the country. I had a great time at last year's event in New Jersey and am hoping this year is equally as enjoyable. :-) The Boston area event was held at the Waltham Microsoft Technology Center. They had a great news story about it here. Know an 11th grade girl who lives in Detroit, Southfield, DC, Cleveland, Phoenix, Denver or Mountain View? She can email msgirlz@microsoft.com if she'd like to attend a DigiGirlz Event. March 03 Innovation Center… Launch Events…It's been a fantastic, but busy week. Yay!! Monday, I spoke at my first campus launch event for Vista and Office 2007. I went down to Philly for the night to speak with our Microsoft Student Partner (MSP) Bryan at Temple. I had a great time, and was only briefly delayed by snow. Actually, that's been a theme for me this week. Snow has not been my closest friend. :-) Wednesday I headed to Toronto and Thursday I made my first visit to Waterloo. After I spoke on Monday a couple guys mentioned that I have a Canadian accent... my theory that I don't was confirmed when I got to Canada. This was my first visit where I actually needed my passport. How weird is it to have a Canadian stamp on my passport?! Thursday was my first visit to an Innovation Center. We held an event to help students from nearby schools compete in the Imagine Cup Software Design Invitational. Most of the attendees were from Waterloo and made quite an impact on the Leaderboard. Nice work folks! :-) They ended up having a big snow storm in the afternoon, so we left early to start our trek back to Toronto. Unfortunately the drive that took an hour on the way there, took FIVE on the way home. Lots of Diane and Daniel quality time. Friday I flew back to JFK to attend the NYC Launch Event. Our NYC MSPs planned and executed a fantastic party to launch Vista and Office at the Manor. The party was GREAT! I uploaded some pictures in the Photos section. One of my personal favorite moments was seeing my manager dressed in his clubbing gear. You rock, Jim! :-D This morning I took the train home and have decided to be exceptionally lazy today. It's working out as well as I had hoped. Monday I'm headed to Seattle for a conference in Bellevue. (Dear Redmond friends, I love you, but I have the conference 24/7 while I'm there. Sorry!) |
